HIPAA applies to covered entities like doctors, hospitals, and health plans, and to their business associates. As a coordination and support tool, HiDoula is not your medical provider and is not a covered entity, so HIPAA compliance is not the right frame for what we do. Instead, we protect your information carefully: your notes and birth plan are encrypted on your device, where supported, your timing is encrypted in transit and at rest, and everything is shared only with the people you invite and is never sold. Some operational details, like timing and labor status, are still processed on our servers so the product can work. If you use HiDoula as part of a clinical relationship that does fall under HIPAA, talk with that provider about their own obligations.
