HiDoula is a support and coordination tool — not a medical device, diagnosis tool, or emergency monitoring system. For urgent concerns, contact your care provider or local emergency services.

Not a medical device or EHR

HiDoula is a coordination and communication tool. It is not a medical device, is not an electronic health record (EHR) system, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. Nothing in HiDoula — including contraction pattern displays, labor status indicators, or notifications — constitutes medical advice.

Not an emergency system

HiDoula must never be relied on for urgent or emergency communication. Messages and alerts may be delayed or fail due to connectivity, device settings, or service issues. In any urgent situation, contact your care provider or local emergency services directly by phone.

Pattern information is informational only

Contraction timing and pattern summaries reflect only what was entered into the app. They are shown to support awareness and conversation — for example, “pattern has changed” — and are never a clinical assessment. Decisions about care should always be made with your doula and your licensed care provider.

HIPAA-aware, not claiming compliance

We design HiDoula with health-information sensitivity in mind (encryption, access controls, audit logging), but HiDoula does not currently claim HIPAA compliance and does not sign Business Associate Agreements. [TODO: legal review — confirm HIPAA posture language.]

Your data is not for sale

We do not sell personal or health-related data, and the product contains no advertising trackers. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Professional responsibility

Doulas using HiDoula remain solely responsible for their professional practice, scope of care, and compliance with applicable laws and certification standards. HiDoula does not supervise, certify, or vouch for any practitioner.
